ACTING
The benefits for those who participate in drama activities are well documented. Drama classes help boost Self Confidence, Teamwork, Leadership, Creativity, communication skills and presentation skills. Drama helps focus the very bright and active mind, and can help everyone to empathise with each other and to question and make sense of the world around us.
SINGING
Singing is taught in a non pressured way as many people enjoy singing in a group but fear singing on their own. As the students progress, their confidence grows and by the time they have have been with us for a short while, they are often mastering complex harmonies and volunteering to sing solos. All songs are chosen specifically for the different age groups and are both fun and challenging.
DANCE
Theatre Fun's dance and movement element is taught in such a way as to not alienate boys, who are often put off by dance. Dance and movement helps body awareness, spatial awareness, coordination and understanding of body language.
BEGINNERS DRAMA
In beginners drama, the children work in a small group on dance, singing and acting out stories. Developing Confidence, Teamwork and Creativity. This is the ideal preparation for our musical theatre school and children move up very confidently, usually between their
5th and 6th birthday.
Ballet, Tap & Dance Development (Mondays)
Students can learn different choreography styles including Classical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre,
Tap, Jazz and commercial.
Students are taught ISTD syllabus work & non-syllabus
work. Tutoring for ISTD examinations in Ballet. Tap and Modern can be arranged at all levels.
LAMDA coaching &
Private Audition coaching
LAMDA (London Academy of Music And Dramatic Art ) is taught indivually and in small groups. Students cantake Acting exams, Exams in Musical Theatre or exams in the Speaking of Verse and Prose. We hold examination session in Colchester termly so that students don't have to travel to London to take exams & we have a 100% pass rate with 98% of students gaining Merits or distinctions! Higher grade can earn students valuable UCAS points too!
Private lessons are also available to help prepare students for
drama & musical theatre scholarship awards. Successful students have gained entrance and/or scholarships places at:
